Acupuncture

Acupuncture points stimulate the central nervous system, which, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals either alter the experience of pain or release other chemicals that influence the body’s self-regulating systems. These biochemical changes stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

He also provides an emotion-focused treatment related to CBT called “Dialectical Behaviour Therapy" (Skills Only). These treatments work - sometimes as effectively as medication. The treatment system Billy has developed as a Physiotherapist is a combination of Functional Range Conditioning, Mobilizations with Movement, Yoga postures/poses, and breathing techniques (Pranayama) all learned and experienced experientially, as well as a refinement of traditional performance training and rehabilitation methods.

By loading tissues once we have expanded capacity/range of movement with movements and exercises that expose the previously injured areas to significant load, the client can achieve results far beyond one approach alone.

In many rehabilitation approaches once the client is no longer in pain, they are often discharged, however, if no objective measures, test, or movements under load are performed it will be difficult to see if the person can handle the loads or activities they wish to return to. For example, the old treatment approach for back pain or concussions used to be a "rest and wait and see approach", we might be symptom free most of the time but as soon as we challenge the systems under pressure or go back to our preferred activities or occupations the symptoms return and the rehabilitation process is questioned.

By combining the methods described above, the system or treatment approach used, allows for the creation of healthy, fully mobile joints, then the tissues are exposed to load with task appropriate tension, while taking into account the health and optimal state of the clients' 10 Physiological systems as well as energetic and emotional imbalance which may be found within the tissues and cells in certain areas of the body-mind.
